It’s a New Year and What a Northeaster!

3 Ways to prepare yourself to buy a home in the new year.

Is 2014 the year for you to buy? Snow bound? Wondering how to get started?

  1. Speak with a reputable lender and get pre approved for a loan. When you speak with the lender have them run some numbers for you. What you are approved for and what you are comfortable carrying for a loan are not necessarily the same. Ask the lender for a checklist of documents you will need for the loan. Remember you are snowbound. Get prepared!
  2. Book a home buying consult. A home buying consult is an opportunity to meet with a buyer’s agent and see if you are a match. This is most likely the biggest and most important purchase you will make so choose wisely! You will learn about the home buying process, Boston market conditions and have an opportunity to ask questions. A good buyer’s agent will also be able to assist you in narrowing down locations based on your criteria if you are unsure.
  3. Most buyers start their search online. Sign up for e alerts. Listings are up to date and you can set for daily alerts or instant alerts when new properties come on the market. Very user friendly!
