Susan Doig Discusses the Value of A Personal Letter to Sellers with Boston Globe

Susan Doig, a top real estate agent at Charlesgate, recently spoke with Boston Globe about a topic she knows a lot about – personal letters to sellers from buyers. In the competitive Boston market, this practice has become increasingly more popular as many homes receive multiple offers. There is debate if this makes a difference to a seller or not and there is not a lot of data on it. Susan’s clients had put offers in on two places and were outbid on both. Per Susan’s advice, they included a short note and photo of themselves with their offer. Of the 4 received at similar prices, theirs was the only one to include this and their offer was accepted!

When asked her opinion of this as a sales tool, Susan was quoted in the article saying:

“‘I think it’s definitely helpful, depending on the seller,’’ said Buck and Nye’s realtor, Susan Doig.”

What do you think? Do you have success using this as a purchase tool? Let us know in the comments!
