Nestled between East Boston and Revere, Suffolk Downs has a rich history of bringing the community together. Since its opening in 1935 as a thoroughbred horse racing track, it has made its mark in the horse racing community, hosting races for famous horses like Seabiscuit, Whirlaway, Funny Cide, and Cigar. Following its closing in 2014, several developers kept their eye on this iconic piece of real estate. Finally, in 2017, HYM Investments purchased the land and proposed a multi-phase plan to redevelop.
Fast forward to the present day, CHARLESGATE couldn't be more excited to see Suffolk Downs come to life again. One of our newest developments, The Pacer, sits just steps away from the entryway to this multi-phase redevelopment. and the most recent updates are rather exciting. After almost 3 years of non-use, The Track at Suffolk Downs is now open for recreation!
Starting Wednesday, August 4th, The Track is open to the public for recreation, exercise, and dog walking - it will be open seven days a week from dawn until dusk. This is an extremely exciting step forward in what will be one of the largest mixed-use development projects in the Boston Area.
Along with being a great space for outdoor recreation, The Track will feature some local artwork and community groups regularly.
- Every other Sunday at 10 am, you can visit for a guided run around The Track led by live DJ and Run Instructor, Chris Cappozzi.
- The Track will be a satellite location for this year’s Revere Beach International Sand Sculpting Festival through August 8th.
